Happy Birthday, Chris Van Allsburg!

Chris Van Allsburg is an American illustrator and writer of children's books. He was born on June 18, 1949 in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the second child of Richard and Doris Van Allsburg. He has won two Caldecott Medals for U.S. picture book illustration, for Jumanji (1981) and The Polar Express (1985), both of which he also wrote; both were later adapted as successful motion pictures. Apart from that, his book entitled Zathura was adapted into movie in 2005.

Did you know who Allan Ahlberg is? He is an amazing author who created many lovely children's books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for every library. Usually, he will collaborate with his late wife, Jane Ahlberg. Allan wrote the books while Janet illustrated them. He was born on today's date back in 1938.
