Book Week 2019

Our students throughout the school have had great fun celebrating their love of reading throughout Book Week. EYC and lower primary enjoyed watching 'The Gruffalo' theatre production, whilst year 6 learnt more about creating Manga books and had go themselves with visiting UK Manga artist, Sonia Leong. Some year 5s and 6s also had the opportunity to speak and ask questions to the author of 'Time Travelling with a Hamster' Ross Welford.

At some point every day all students and staff have stopped whatever they were doing, wherever they were, to 'Drop Everything and Read'.

Years 1 and 2 have been coming into school in their pyjamas in the evening to listen to bedtime tales told by their teachers.

Years 3, 4 and 5 enjoyed reading books with their parents in different places outside school as part of the books on blankets event.

The year 1s have been supported with their reading by the year 7 students and year 2s by the year 10s, with both ages of students gaining from the experience.

On book day itself, everyone looked fantastic dressed as their favourite book character and enjoyed a full day of activities dedicated to reading, fun with competitions taking place in the library.

It has been a busy week at EYC too with children dressed up in their pyjamas for bedtime stories as well as parading around in their costumes on Book Day.

A big thank you to all parents who got involved in some way with The Big Read, whether by reading yourself to raise money or encouraging your child to take part and sponsoring them. We look forward to celebrating how much we have raised soon.
