GIS Book Week 2018

It's hard to believe that Book Week for 2018 is already over! With the aim of promoting reading for pleasure, there has been so many fun reading activities going on during the week.

This year, we aimed to raise at least RM50,000 to help and transform the lives of our friends at the Rohingya Education Centre. We challenged our students to read as much as they could from 26th March to 27th April, and to collect sponsorship money along the way.

We are incredibly excited to announce the total money raised by the GIS community for 'The Big Read' is over RM80,000. This will allow up to 150 students, who have been forced to leave their homes in Myanmar, to have a safer, cleaner and more inspiring environment to learn in. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved.

Steve Bowkett was here for the whole week speaking to Primary, Secondary and also Kuantan's students around thinking skills for writing.

Clive Pig came to do storytelling with Years 1, 2, 3 and EYC students. The children found him really funny and enjoyed environmental stories and traditional tales.

Bedtime tales for Years 1 & 2 was again a big success, the children loved listening to stories in their pyjamas!
