Book Lovers CCA poster winners

Sophia from Year 3 and Julin from Year 4 created the winning posters to promote these wonderful Jackie French books. A lot of hard work and attention to detail obviously went into their posters. Congratulations girls!

Bryn Barnard visits GIS

Author/artist/teacher/historian, Bryn Barnard, spent time today with students from Years 4 - 8 discussing interesting topics such as disease, natural disasters and dinosaurs. The standard of questions asked by the children was astounding, and their use of scientific vocabulary showed that they have been doing some serious learning in their classrooms!

Visiting Poet - Paul Cookson

Entertaining British poet, Paul Cookson, will be with us on Thursday, 22nd October and Friday, 23rd October. He will be performing his poetry at Thursday's whole school assembly and also giving workshops to students in Years 3 and 4 during his visit. Click here to view Paul's website.

Performance Poet Matt Windle

Year 6 were given a wonderful treat last week when Matt Windle visited GIS. Matt is an award-winning performance poet from the UK. He made genuine connections with the students and guided them to write their own poetry which many of them performed last Wednesday afternoon. Here is a video of the winning team in action.

Book Signing - Ayyad Asghar

We had two very successful book signing sessions today. If you would like to buy a copy of Ayyad's book, they are available from the Primary Office for RM13.50. Ayyad will be available again in the Primary Library on Thursday at break time to sign books. We are so proud of him and this great accomplishment.

Borrowing in the holidays

The Primary Library will be closed from July 13th - 31st for stocktake. We will reopen on August 1st for you to come and borrow some books. Don't forget you can also read eBooks on Tumblebooks and on our ePlatform. Bring your iPad to the library and Ms Siobhan will set it up for you.

Please return your library books

Hi everyone. Borrowing has ended for this school year. Please return your books as soon as you have finished reading them as we are preparing to do our stocktake.
Remember, you can always read eBooks on our Tumblebooks platform, our Follett shelf or on our Wheelers ePlatform. There are lots of wonderful books available on these shelves and you can download books from anywhere in the world using the Internet.
If you need help to set up your Wheelers ePlatform, just bring your iPad to the library and Ms Siobhan will set it up for you.

Epic Books

Parents, if you haven't yet downloaded the Epic app onto your iPad/tablet, you are missing out on some fabulous eBooks for your children. This is a free resource for teachers and for anyone who has "edu" in their email address. If you would prefer to sign up with your personal email address, it's only US$5 per month to subscribe (which is a bargain considering the quality and range of books available in their collection). Today Epic released some reading lists for the summer holidays which I'm sure your children will enjoy.

Year 2 Bedtime Stories

We recently held two evenings of Bedtime Stories for Year 2 in the library. It was lovely to see our little Year 2 friends in their pyjamas and accompanied by their favourite teddies. A big thank you to Ms Emma, Mr Colmer, Mr Ruscoe and Mr Deeth for reading stories to the children.
